She never really had any friends besides her twin brother.

She always talked strangely -- she was overly blunt, worded her sentences weird, and would use as few words as possible. That, along with her stiff, expressionless face, generally caused everyone but her brother, Akashi, to avoid her.

Only a few people were outright mean to her. It hurt, to be ignored and treated like that.

When she was around 7, a man had noticed the lonely, practically friendless child. He wanted to be involved in crime and famous for it, but didnt want to put himself at risk.

And he decided that Hikari was the perfect person to put at risk in his place. After all, being so lonely, likely desperate for more attention than she could get, would likely make her very easy to manipulate -- promise her affection, and you could turn her into a killing machine.

So, thats what he did.

Akashi remained largely unaware of what was happening to his sister. Hikari, originally, wasnt fond of what she had to do, but slowly grew numb.

The wanna-be crimelord who had been manipulating her told her how important it was to never let yourself be caught, ever. To eliminate every single witness, no matter who or how. He instilled fear and paranoia into her.

Eventually, in middle scholl, she made another friend. However, that friend had managed to catch her. The crimelords words ringing in her ear, alongside fear, she had to kill her friend.

She couldnt bear it anymore, worrying about Akashi possibly being the next to catch her, so she went home and never came back. She was worried the crimelord would kill Akashi as punishment for leaving, so she pretended to have no affection for him, ignoring him and acting cold, to try and save his life

A bit before entering high school, she reconciled with Akashi, telling him everything that happened. She decided that shell keep him safe by his side, but its difficult when she sees everyone, including herself, as a threat to his safety.
